Topics Covered : In this workshop participants will be introduced to different activities
based on Sun like true north, solar time, making a sun dial, different safe
ways to view the sun, Sunspots etc.,
Activity details : Identifying true north, making a sun dial and pinhole camera
different projection methods to view the sun and Sunspot plotting etc.,

Note: Astronomy is weather dependent phenomena All materials towards the workshop shall be provided.

Requirement: A class room or hall with Audio-visual system.

Topics Covered : Solar system and its origin- Birth of solar system,

Classification on inner and outer planets, layers of solar System,Oort cloud etc.

Activity details : Icosahedron planet charts-Making of planets

Topics Covered : Comet and its Journey: Comets and its origin, path of the comets and types
of comets.
Activity details : Understanding the path and the journey of comet through the activity

Activity details : Observing the constellations through the black box with a 3D constellation
kit

on Moon surface, Formation of phases of moon
Activity details : Crater formation, Phases of Moon (Role play)

6.Evening Workshop

Itinerary of the Event

Eligible Age group    : Class 4 and above

Program Details

Duration : 4 hrs

Timings : 5:00pm -8:00 pm

Topics Covered : Moon and its surface features, Tidal lock and Synchronous rotation.

Activity details : Moon mapping: Observing the surface of Moon through Telescope and

plotting its surface

7.Overnight Sky Workshop

Itinerary of the Event

Eligible Age group    : Class 4 and above

Program Details

Duration : Overnight (6 hrs)

Topics Covered : Understanding the stars and their patterns-Constellations,

Rising and setting time of stars/Constellations using star

Chart .Discussion on movement of planets around the sun and the

phenomena caused by them. Observing the planets through telescope.

Activity details : Making a plane sphere and altitude finder.

Observing the planets through telescope based on the

visibility.

8.Telescope making workshop

Itinerary of the Event

Eligible Age group    : Class 6 and above

Program Details

Duration : 15 hrs

Topics Covered : In this workshop participants will be introduced to

Optics (basics) and principles of telescope

Activity details : Making a telescope 5 inch reflector or 50 mm refractor

Aim

This course is designed to kindle interest in students for taking up Astronomy as one of their Co-Curricular Activities (Hobby classes).

Eligibility Criteria

Students of Grade 5 and above can enrol to this course.

Duration

Course is designed for 22 weekly sessions, comprising both theoretical as well as Activity-based sessions along with “Over night sky watch” activity.

Aim

This course is open to school / college students who have an aptitude/knowledge of basic Astronomy and have a strong motivation to gain more knowledge in this field. The course comprises of customized lectures and activities which will be followed up with an overnight ‘Sky watch’ event.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who have successfully completed Astronomy (our) Module 1 or attended any other Basic Astronomy Course are eligible to join the course.

Course comprises 22 weekly sessions of both theoretical as well as activity based sessions along with ‘Over night sky watch’ activity

The course is designed to create awareness among the students about the night sky astronomy. The course also aims at addressing some of the advanced concepts in this subject and introducing them to the present day astronomy. This course is open to the high school students with a right aptitude. The lectures in this course will be specially handled by well known Scientists from various Institutes / Organizations in and around Bangalore.
